Who are we?

Candlelight Productions is an:
arts & entertainment,
education,
media &
merchandising community

Candlelight Productions was launched publically in 2003.
Since its inception it has produced a diverse range of events and initiatives, including:

  • the acclaimed shows Human and he|she|it
  • multimedia for the launch of The Oaktree Foundation (the founder of which was subsequently named Young Australian of the Year)
  • the Steps Outreach Service Charity Gala @ Fed Square
  • the annual community-based Harvest Picnic
  • IGNITION Creative Artists' Gathering (a national conference for artists of all disciplines).

More recently we:

  • provided drama resources for VCYC
  • were commissioned by the band Selahphonic to write the script 'These Dark Place and Those Things Unsaid' and provide artistic direction for multimedia for the launch of their new CD
  • are currently in rehearsals for our new shows, '[Speak Not] To Me of Love' and 'The Importance of Being Earnest - The Complete Bunbury Experience'.

We value diversity and aim to be as inclusive as possible. We take this aim into serious consideration when we write or cast new productions. Typically our productions aim to merge different forms of media, including, but not limited to, drama, movement, music, multimedia and puppetry. This calls for people from a wide range of disciplines, ranging from performers to techies and production staff, designers to musicians, and film directors to our hospitality team. If you’d like to get involved in any, please drop us a line!

One of the aims of Candlelight Productions is to raise and equip passionate artists to utilise their gifts in serving the wider community. We make great efforts to inspire and empower emerging creative people to make a positive impact on Australian culture.

OUR MISSION/AIMS:

To maintain a healthy community which seeks excellence in the creative arts to facilitate personal, artistic, social and spiritual growth.

Candlelight Productions exists to build community, nurture creativity and encourage an attitude of service in the arts, whilst striving for a high standard of excellence in our work.

The way we operate reflects our ethos: we produce events which we believe are relevant to and will potentially have a lasting impact on Melbourne's culture. We also consciously try to place process before product.

Candlelight Productions channels significant resources into training up and sending out new leaders, maintaining a vital community/alumni and supporting other companies and charities. As a consequence, we have a growing reputation for being counter-cultural in the way in which we try to honour and support both artists and patrons through our hospitality and pastoral support.

Our work aims to facilitate healing through the creative arts by addressing social issues, stimulating discussion and facilitating emotional healing.

Staff:

Candlelight's team is filled with committed, enthusiastic and like-minded individuals. The company structure breaks down into three main areas which are Management, Production, and Creative teams.
